How long it runs: Fully charged, it will shine for four hours+, though its official run time is 80 minutes.
Black Diamond Wiz Headlamp (or pretty much any headlamp!)
What it is: a flashlight on a headstrap
How much: $20, but you can go upwards of $100 for craziness
Where: MEC, REI, any outdoor store
Why it rocks: Cooking in the dark: 300 candles no longer necessary. Hands-free!! Batteries included.
How long it runs: 120 hours apparently. I haven't even come close to finding that out yet!
What it is: That extra layer of skin to keep thermal usage maximum
How much: $45-$150 (more money doesn't mean better, I find)
Where: MEC, REI
Why it rocks: Negative temps, no sweat. I can wear jeans in winter now without freezing. Too bad I cant wear them with a dress. *awkward*
How long it runs: Hopefully, 10+ years (hopefully this is where +$ = +time
What it is: Best thing ever.
How much: Free, if you work it right, plus $800/year "maintenance". Oh, and your whole heart. So, like everything.
